Linebug Searches For One's Identity In Stunning New Single Sideways

Danish duo Linebug faturing singer-songwriter Line Bøgh and painter / digital artist Christian Gundtoft have created a stunning song in Sideways. It is a true gem that blends indie pop and soft folk pop elements to create a beautiful and soothing melody. The song’s lyrics are reflective and introspective, exploring the feeling of drifting without any clear direction and searching for one’s identity in an increasingly complex world.

The track opens with delicate and dreamy vocals, delivering the song’s poignant lyrics with grace and emotion. As the song progresses, additional instruments are introduced, including a mellow drumbeat, twinkling keys, and lush harmonies that add depth and texture to the track.

The song is written in the town of Zeitz (a depopulated and “forgotten” town in the Eastern part of Germany, where the duo have lived since 2021) The song is about human identity, but the lyrics also reflect a town becoming invisible to the world surrounding it.

Line discusses the accompanying music video, “To visualize this story, Christian kind of re-animated the past of Zeitz! For this, he went treasure-hunting in the so-called “lost places” in town and started sculpturing and animating all kinds of found objects. We did some experiments filming Line with stop-motion-technique, and in the end we had a strange but mesmerizing portrait of a town – and a woman – drifting, hoping not to be forgotten.

Sideways features Deutsche Filmorchester Babelsberg and the animated video pays homage to the iconic stop-motion video ‘Sledgehammer’ by Peter Gabriel.

Linebug’s Sideways is a unique visual and listening experience that invites the listener to reflect on life, love, and the challenges we all face in today’s world. The song’s sweet melody and poignant lyrics make it easy to get lost in the music and lose yourself in your thoughts.

Linebug’s album Fast Changing Landscapes will be released on 21st April 2023.
