Anna Pancaldi's Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left: Unraveling The Emotion Behind Her Latest Hit

Anna Pancaldi is a name you won’t want to forget. The British singer-songwriter is making waves with her soulful vocals and poignant lyrics that leave an indelible impression on the listener. Her latest release, Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left, is the perfect example of her talent and marks a new chapter in her career.

The new single is a hauntingly beautiful ballad that showcases Anna’s ability to convey raw emotion through her music. The track starts with gentle piano chords, and as Anna’s voice comes in, you can’t help but be drawn in by the depth of feeling she brings to the lyrics. This heartfelt composition, with its soul-stirring melody and deeply introspective lyrics, takes us on a journey of self-discovery and emotional healing.

Maybe it’s time
To make space for light
Hand back the handbook
From my old way of life
I know I’m afraid
To be vulnerable
But if I don’t let the leaves fall then how will I
How can I grow

Anna’s talent has not gone unnoticed in the music industry. She has had three Top Ten hits in the singer-songwriter iTunes charts and has toured extensively in the UK, Europe, and the US. She has opened for notable artists such as David Ryan Harris, Jake Isaac, and Fatai and has headlined shows in NYC, LA, and Nashville. Her music has also been featured in hit US TV shows and films, including Pretty Little Liars, Famous in Love and The In Between.

We caught up with Anna to find out more about her new release, her creative process, musical influences and more.

Tell us about your new single Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left
Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left speaks of the vulnerability after being closed to relationships for many years and the slow unravelling and revelation of rediscovering the want to be loved, to love and know love once more.

Can you describe the creative process behind your new release and writing in general?
I started carving away at the song alone where the song title came to me pretty quickly and finished it with the excellent aid of Jessica Sharman at her lovely countryside home. She so helped to tie together the lyrics in a way and style I hadn’t implemented before and the song wouldn’t have been what it is without her! The joy of collaboration.

What would you like listeners to take from Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left when they hear it?
That we have an infinite capacity to love and to know love. I’ve found it hard to be brave and vulnerable in this way for lots of personal reasons for a long time, but feel a change in the waters and an unfurling. I hope if anyone is needing encouragement or hope in this space, that they can resonate with that in this song and that they find some solidarity and understanding here.

Do you have a favourite lyric? As a writer, what are the lyrics that make you wish you had written them? Or indeed an overall song?
Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell

When did you write your first song and is there anything you would change looking back?
My first recollection of writing a song was in Cape Town as a young teenager in the 00’s, I had a little mini guitar that I taught myself two chords on and wrote a rather self-indulgent song entitled, Do You Know What It’s Like To Be Me. hehe. No changes at all, that was a sweet moment of unbridled, non-self-deprecating and honest songwriting. I miss my younger mind for its kindness, less active thoughts and gentleness towards myself.

Who or what is influencing your music at the moment?
Living life has always tended to be the navigator in terms of what I’m writing, the most visceral experiences of the moment and not always ones I wish I had come to know so well if I’m being completely honest.

Which artists would you love to write for or collaborate with on a single?
Oh my goodness, now don’t laugh, but I have always adored Barbra Streisand and John Mayer would be dreamy.

What is the one thing that you would like to see changed or improved within the music industry?
Ohh well, that would be fairer streaming rates! I’ll make it short because I could go on for a lonnnggg time regarding this!

What are your interests outside of music?
I love plants, nature, hiking, and gardening (when I can borrow a friends). I adore going to museums and learning about history, science and so on. I’m happy outdoors or learning pretty much. Does being an Auntie count too?! those little ones are my greatest joy!

Is there a venue or music festival you would love to perform at and why?
Easy, the Royal Albert Hall. Stunningly iconic, moody and the sound!

What’s next?
I have a sold-out London band show (madness) to play which I cannot wait for!! I’m accompanying a friend for a show at the Roundhouse, releasing many more singles this year and a UK tour at the end of the year.

As Anna Pancaldi enters this new era in her career with Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left, we can’t wait to see where her talent takes her next. If you haven’t already, make sure to give her new single a listen and catch her live if you can. This is an artist you won’t want to miss.

Where Do I Lay All The Love I Have Left is out now.
