Anna Shoemaker Shines In Her New Single ‘Liquor Store’

By Lucy LernerAugust 3, 2018

If you haven’t heard Anna Shoemaker’s legendary mash-up of Beyonce’s ‘Say My Name’, Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe’ and Chance the Rapper’s ‘Cocoa Butter Kisses’” then you need to have a listen here  (it has over 750k streams). The Philadelphia-born and NY-based, 23-year-old singer-songwriter became a ‘Soundcloud sensation’ with the track which she recorded in her bedroom and completely put her own spin on. She has been continuing do so with her own original music ever since. Her debut ‘What Am I Doing To Me’ showcases her raw vocals and catchy hooks and now this talented artist is back with her brand new single ‘Liquor Store’ out today.

‘Liquor Store’ is a heartfelt song with an intricate, yet delicate melody, and an intense electro-pop hook. There is a confidence which really shines through Shoemaker’s distinctive vocals which take on a jazzy edge. Lyrics reflect the vulnerability and melancholic tone within the song,

“hurts a little more than it did before, driving past your house on my way to the liquor store”

It’s not just about the music, Anna Shoemaker is signed to fashion mogul Steve Madden’s 5Towns Records (Ezi, Harlee), and is currently starring in Steve Madden’s Fall campaign which was launched at the end of July.

Shoemaker is also known for her live performances, even closing out last year with a supporting slot at Bishop Briggs’ sold-out Music Hall of Williamsburg show.

The singer recently finished recording her debut EP with Grammy-nominated producer, JT Daly, which is set for release in Autumn 2018. Anna Shoemaker is a really impressive voice to listen out for.

Anna Shoemaker recently announced an opening slot for Donna Missal at Rough Trade on September 10th.
