Sharky Releases Debut EP ‘Fruit’ And Music Video For ‘Touch’

With Sharky’s colourful EP ‘Fruit’ comes her new video for single ‘Touch’. A dreamy detached video that compliments the psychy pop production and dreamy vocals. The contrast from black and white to colour, the digital graininess and late night filming give the video a lovely nostalgic feel that pairs up to the single brilliantly.

Sharky has released a string of sonically-inspiring singles which have garnered support across BBC Radio 1xtra and 6Music. Now she returns with her debut EP Fruit; a provocative 5-track collection of genre-bending melodies, bubbling beats and otherworldly vocals which can be compared to the likes of the late Minnie Riperton and London vocalist NAO, with other influences including PJ Harvey and Stevie Nicks. The record is out now via ETLW Records.

Inspiration for the title track ‘Fruit’, from the EP released today, came from a trip to Chefchaouen in Morocco, with the soundscape at the beginning taken from one of the famous bustling markets. “I saw a stall selling sugary treats”, Sharky explains. “Behind the glass display cabinet, there were hundreds of wasps trapped and eating themselves to a sugary death, whilst other wasps were trying to get in. This image fascinated me”, and from there Fruit was created.’ Themes of the riches of the Earth, it’s goodness, plants and fruits are weaved throughout the EP and reflected in the artwork, which were also designed by Sharky. A lover of art, she cites surrealists Dorothea Tanning and Leonora Carrington as visual influences.

Sharky has two upcoming shows in London and Norwich and you can follow this link to buy tickets for her show at London’s The Victoria.
