Prismala’s ‘Right Place’ Is a Late-Night Groove

Prismala’s ‘Right Place’ Is a Late-Night Groove

Berlin four-piece Prismala have released a track that earns its place on any late-night playlist. In ‘Right Place’, fluid neo-soul instrumentation claims the spotlight, with warm guitar lines that curl around soft vocals. There is a short guitar solo that cuts through the smoothness with a burst of energy before the groove retreats.

The song has a retro quality that puts you somewhere between a jazz lounge and a rooftop bar. A crisp martini to accompany ‘Right Place’ is optional.

‘Right Place’ asks the question, are we actually where we’re supposed to be, or just inside another trap? It explores themes of doubt and chasing success.

Have we come to the right place?
Just another cave for the wolves or the right place?

“Still after all these years I feel to this world I’m a foreigner / before I cross the road ahead I’m checking every corner” is the self-awareness of someone who knows the game is rigged but keeps showing up anyway.

It’s a dynamic that feels fitting given the band’s own cross-cultural makeup. Rooted in backgrounds spanning English, American-Gambian, Afro-Brazilian and German heritage, Prismala have built a sound that moves naturally between neo-soul, indie pop and alternative rock.

‘Right Place’ is one I have on repeat. How about you?

Prismala’s new album For The Record is out now.
