Video Premiere: The Naked Eye’s Stunning Live Session Of ‘Tell Me’

By Lucy LernerApril 2, 2019
The Naked Eye

The Naked EyeThe Naked Eye unveils a stunning live session of her recent single ‘Tell Me’ taken from her forthcoming EP ‘Love’s Grave’.

The French-English singer-songwriter will be releasing her next single  ‘See You Later’ this Friday, April 5th, also from the EP and featuring Marie Dahlstrom who is part of the same female collective HER SONGS along with three other artists. The talented collective released their debut EP ‘Los Angeles’ last year.

The live session for ‘Tell Me’ was filmed in St James Church with Dan Diggas at the piano. The Naked Eye’s vocals transcend space and time in their translucent beauty. She could be singing about taking the rubbish out and it would still be captivating, but instead, she is baring her soul in a timeless song about meeting up with an ex-love.

“A chapter of my life
Now I sit across from you
In the cafe that we used to go to
A lesson I once learned, a stranger now returned.
That’s you.

Tell me something about your work
Send my love to the family,
Tell me all about the new friends you made
Your new life without me.”

‘Love’s Grave’ was written and recorded in The Naked Eye’s bedroom – quite apt seeing as it’s very intimate and reflects on the themes of a relationship break-up. The first 4 tracks are produced by multi-instrumentalist Conor Albert and are lo-fi and steeped in neo-soul with jazz inflections and beautiful, reflective vocal harmonies. The Naked Eye’s voice flutters and ripples over delicate chords and dreamy soundscapes. ‘See You Later’ introduces a more upbeat tone with a jazz synth blanket and smooth piano beats. The track was performed with and produced by fellow HER SONGS collaborator Marie Dahlstrøm and together they make the most soulful duo.

‘Love’s Grave’ EP is set for release on 12th April.
