Swedish singer-songwriter Varas delivers a striking blend of melancholic alt-pop and raw emotion in Eaten By Worms, the centre piece of his latest project.

Anchored by shadowy textures and a pulse that shifts between restraint and urgency, the track pairs hypnotic rhythms with a sense of unease that hooks you through its 3-minute and 49-second runtime.

Co-produced with boerd, the song’s layered instrumentation and experimental approach nod to influences like Radiohead and King Krule.

Murky synths and a driving beat provide an atmospheric backdrop to Varas’ introspective lyricism, which pulls inspiration from Anne Carson’s Autobiography of Red.

The song’s protagonist, longing for the security of a cage after a fall, mirrors themes of vulnerability and self-preservation—echoing the fragile balance between emotional exposure and survival.

On this track, Varas’ brings in Grammy-nominated producer James Dring (Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey) and songwriter Linnéa Netin to shape his most expansive work yet.

With its shifting intensity and surreal imagery, Eaten By Worms captures a deep sense of isolation while keeping an unpredictable energy woven into every moment.
