Chloe Moriondo’s hate it Blends Bubbly Pop with Macabre Obsession

Detroit native Chloe Moriondo drops hate it, a strangely vibrant yet eerie indie-pop earworm marking the second single from her upcoming fourth album oyster (out March 28th via Atlantic/Parlophone).
The 22-year-old artist, who’s amassed over 500 million streams since her 2021 breakthrough, delivers a delicious contradiction – a bright, bouncy indie-pop banger wrapped around lyrics of intense fixation and dangerous admiration.
The track builds on a foundation of pulsing synths and crisp percussion as Moriondo’s vocals float between sweet and menacing.
“I want your face, I’d maybe wear it to bed or slip it over my head and rob a bank,” she sings with unsettling cheerfulness in the opening verse, establishing the song’s uniquely unhinged perspective on desire.
The chorus erupts with infectious energy as Moriondo confesses, “Everybody loves you and I hate it, but I can’t let you go,” perfectly capturing that uncomfortable space where admiration bleeds into resentment.
“It’s my fun fun song about having so much envy for someone that it turns into a crush/murderous hatred,” Moriondo explains with characteristic offbeat charm.
Co-written with collaborators including Jonah Summerfield (Holly Humberstone) and Chloe Kraemer (The Japanese House), hate it showcases her evolving sonic palette while maintaining the quirky vulnerability that’s made her a Gen Z favourite.
Fans can catch Chloe Moriondo performing material from oyster during her 20-date North American tour kicking off this April.

Chloe Moriondo Hate It Lyrics
Look at you through a screen, I
I don’t know what i mean when I say
That i want your face, I’d
Maybe wear it to bed
Or slip it over my head and rob a bank
I don’t know why
I’m so crazy
Lately, i’m not satisfied
And nothing can save me
Or change me, my hands are tied
Everybody wants you
I don’t blame them
Everybody wants to
Be your favorite
Wanna wear your body and
Trade places
Everybody loves you
And i hate it
But i can’t let you go
No i can’t let you go
And i like it even though it hurts
I swim in lava wanna feel the burn
Want you to feel like me now
Slowly dying but alive somehow
I’m so crazy
Lately, i’m not satisfied
And nothing can save me
Or change me, my hands are tied
Everybody wants you
I don’t blame them
Everybody wants to
Be your favorite
Wanna wear your body and
Trade places
Everybody loves you
And i hate it
But i can’t let you go
No i can’t let you go
(sick nasty solo break)
Everybody wants you
I don’t blame them
Everybody wants to
Be your favorite
Wanna wear your body and
Trade places
Everybody loves you
And i hate it
But i can’t let you go
No i can’t let you go
