“it’s also the poetry laced within the lyrics of each track that adds an extra pinch of magic, really showcasing AJIA’s talent as a creator.”

‘Touching the Surface’ is the new EP from talented R&B and soul singer AJIA, and it is utterly phenomenal.

If you like the kind of R&B tunes that take you back to the nostalgic vibes of the ’90s, then this EP is for you. AJIA showcases her beautifully sweet vocals on the new 7 track EP ‘Touching the Surface’ which is a follow up from the well-received debut EP ‘Visions’ and it certainly does not disappoint.

‘Touching the Surface’ is drenched in the kind of neo-soul grooves that seem to throw you back into a previous decade, but somehow possesses the power to keep a modern and fresh vibe running throughout, which is one of the reasons this South London born artist is well on her way to storming the top of the UK R&B scene.

It’s an EP you can easily sink into, filled with mellow chords and chilled beats that create a cool foundation for AJIA’s unique yet soulful vocals that flow effortlessly throughout each track. Yet it’s not only the musical instrumentation that makes this a piece of art, but it’s also the poetry laced within the lyrics of each track that adds an extra pinch of magic, really showcasing AJIA’s talent as a creator.

AJIA sings:
“Love is for
Fairytales and believers
Love is for Fairytales
It’s a made-up word
It’ll wave back an’ chosen me
Just a little spell
That will hypnotize your mind
Love is for
For a sentimental easing”

Hauntingly beautiful and utterly captivating. ‘Touching the Surface’ is worth a listen.
