The Bear Season 2: Everything You Need to Know About the Hulu Comedy Series

The Bear is one of the most acclaimed and hilarious comedy series on Hulu, starring Jeremy Allen White as Carmy, a young chef who returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop after his brother’s suicide. The first season of The Bear was a hit with critics and audiences alike, earning rave reviews and several award nominations. The second season of The Bear is set to premiere on June 22 and promises more laughs, drama, and delicious food. Here’s everything you need to know about The Bear Season 2.

What is The Bear about?

The Bear follows Carmy, a former fine-dining chef who comes back to his hometown of Chicago to take over his family’s restaurant, The Original Beef of Chicagoland, after his brother Michael’s death. Carmy has to deal with the challenges of running a small business, managing a dysfunctional staff, and coping with his grief and guilt. He also has to balance his relationship with his sister Natalie (Abby Elliott), who co-owns the restaurant, and his uncle Jimmy (Oliver Platt), who is a major investor.

The Bear is a comedy-drama that explores the themes of family, food, friendship, and redemption. It also showcases the culture and diversity of Chicago, especially its food scene. The Bear is created by Christopher Storer and executive produced by Joanna Calo, Josh Senior, Hiro Murai, and Nate Matteson.

What happened in The Bear Season 1?

The first season of The Bear introduced us to Carmy and his crew at The Beef, which included Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), his brother’s best friend and the de facto manager; Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), a talented but inexperienced sous chef; Marcus (Lionel Boyce), a bread baker turned pastry chef; Tina (Liza Colón-Zayas), a veteran line cook; Ebraheim (Edwin Lee Gibson), another line cook; Neil (Matty Matheson), a childhood friend and handyman; and Angel (José Cervantes) and Manny (Richard Esteras), the dishwashers.

The first season followed Carmy’s attempts to improve the quality and reputation of The Beef, while also dealing with his personal issues. He faced various obstacles, such as health inspections, rival restaurants, customer complaints, staff conflicts, family drama, and financial troubles.

The first season ended with a shocking twist: Carmy and his staff discovered that Michael had hidden hundreds of thousands of dollars in tomato cans in the basement of the restaurant. Carmy decided to use the money to redo and rename the restaurant and start fresh with his team.
