Premiere: FERGUS Releases Acoustic EP ‘Close Quarters’
Singer-songwriter FERGUS releases a stunning acoustic EP ‘Close Quarters’ containing 4 of his much-loved songs which are stripped back to their core. The EP, out on 6th December via Goldun Egg Records is finely crafted with effortless sweeping vocals and delicately plucked guitars. FERGUS is known for his honest delivery, chiming harmonies, and textured layers and these acoustic versions bring out of all those elements.
“‘Close Quarters’ is about stripping away all the fancy stuff and taking these songs back to the bare essentials – how they were conceived. I love how it brings out all the vocal layers and exposes some of the more hidden and delicate elements of the tracks. There’s a heightened sense of emotion which clarifies the feel of the songs – ‘Willow’ seems sweeter, and the others much more poignant.” – FERGUS
‘Close Quarters’ contains four tracks finely plucked from FERGUS’s repertoire and they complement each other in their vulnerability and raw poetry. From the haunting ‘Willow’ to rippling harmonies in ‘Nobody Know’s to the aching ‘Not Enough’ and rounding off with the lullaby rhythm of ‘Zelda Mae’ which fills the listener with hope.
It has been a busy few years for FERGUS who we have been championing since his debut in December 2017. He has released 2 EP’s, one of which ‘Three of Swords,’ has had support from Tom Robinson @ 6Music, Radio X, BBC Introducing, Songwriting Magazine amongst many other tastemakers. We predicted last year that FERGUS would do well in 2019 and he has certainly exceeded all expectations.
FERGUS is currently in the studio recording a new collection of songs set for release throughout 2020. FERGUS has also just released a beautiful cover of ‘White Christmas‘ to get you in the holiday spirit.
