Eiza Murphy’s latest single, Conman, is a captivating pop anthem that delves into the raw emotions of betrayal and guardedness. Teaming up with her sister Lenii, who skillfully produced the track, the Irish singer-songwriter showcases her exceptional storytelling prowess and memorable melodies in this brutally honest song.

Crafted in a whirlwind of inspiration, Conman was written in just fifteen minutes, with Eiza and Lenii preserving its initial rawness and unfiltered emotion by refusing to alter the day-one demo. The result is a genre-blending music that fuses pop, R&B, and hip-hop elements, with Eiza’s velvety vocals effortlessly gliding over a groovy beat and crisp synths.

Eiza’s candid lyricism in Conman pulls no punches, expressing her anger and frustration with sharp, conversational language: “You’re a conman / You’re a liar / You’re a thief / You’re a cheat / You’re a snake / You’re a fake / You’re everything I hate.” Her Irish storytelling roots are evident in her lyrics, further amplifying her unique artistry and melodic brilliance.

Reflecting on the serendipitous creation of Conman, Eiza shares the story behind the song:

I wrote Conman in fifteen minutes while my sister had friends over. I sang really quietly so they wouldn’t hear, and basically just word-vomited the whole song into the mic. I was completely unattached to it at first because I thought it was too blunt, but my sister and I were supposed to work on a different song that day, and when I played her the demo of Conman, she refused to work on anything else. So, Conman was started and finished that day and hasn’t been touched since. Making music with my sister is always my favorite thing to do, and we had so much fun making this song. It’s brutally honest because I never thought it would come out, but here we are.”

Eiza Murphy’s Conman unearths the raw emotions of deception in a powerful pop anthem that leaves listeners enthralled.

Conman is out now on all streaming platforms.
