Cliff Drive By The Sunshine State Is Packed With Punch And Nostalgia
Cliff Drive by The Sunshine State exudes fun, youth, and freedom – couldn’t we all do with some of that right now? Projecting a beam of golden warmth, Cliff Drive is packed with punch and nostalgia. From the hazy guitars, dreamy vocals, and lush production it feels like basking in the sunshine.
The Sunshine State is the new project of artist Skyler Stonestreet and Cliff Drive is her debut single co-written with Hayley Gene Penner (Lennon Stella, Charlotte Lawrence), and Nick Monson (Lady Gaga, Selena Gomez). Having previously written for artists including Ariana Grande & Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa, The Chainsmokers, Marshmello, and Hailee Steinfeld Skyler Stonestreet knows how to make an instant impact.
“‘Cliff Drive’ is about nostalgia for me, it’s about a time in my life where I was doing almost anything and trying everything, where I felt reckless but safe in that. I was on a constant chase for something new, dangerous, as long as it was freeing. Cliff Drive is a road in Santa Barbara where I grew up, and that I’ve driven down many many times. It’s a road that looks beautiful but has come with its own tragedies. This song captures the impulsive and carefree feeling of escape.” – The Sunshine State
