Alison Albrecht Two Hearts’ Balances Love and Dreams

By Marcus AdetolaJuly 5, 2025
Alison Albrecht Two Hearts’ Balances Love and Dreams

With Two Hearts, Alison Albrecht lays out a folk-tinged indie-pop track that feels warm yet quietly defiant.

Her sound leans bold and ethereal at once, blending acoustic textures, layered harmonies, and a soulful vocal line that circles you in close.

Lyrically, she pulls you in from the first line — memories of “my pigtails pulled, picked last in gym” run up against the weight of adult choices.

“I thought we said us girls would never do it for them” she repeats, half mantra, half reminder.

There’s a push and pull between wanting the safety of “a house a home somebody to call” and needing room to dream bigger.

Albrecht’s vocal delivery makes for easy listening while still carrying a thoughtful edge.

The production complements the melody with subtle percussion, reverb-washed guitar, and warm harmonies that give each line room to breathe without crowding the words.

It’s the kind of arrangement that leaves space for lines like “my heart’s in two, there’s one for you but there’s one for the girl that’s been dreaming too” to land where they need to.

Two Hearts feels progressive without losing its intimacy — a song that says you can hold onto love without handing your whole self away.

Alison Albrecht Two Hearts Lyrics

My pigtails pulled
Picked last in gym
Tattoo my back
Stretch marks to skin
We thought it’s cool, it is what it is
But boys are just boys and we should deal with it

The same age now
As they got married
I want that too but i want it all
A house a home somebody to call
My name said loud, i’m standing tall

I thought we said
Us girls would never do it for them
I thought we’re taught
Us girls would have to choose in the end
But where’s the truth in it?

My heart’s in two
There’s one for you
But there’s one for the girl that’s been dreaming too
I thought it’s cool, it is what it is
But you let me shine and i’m not used to it

I thought we said
Us girls would never do it for them
I thought we’re taught
Us girls would have to choose in the end
I thought we said
Us girls would never do it for them
I thought we fought for this
But i like the way your words make me feel
