AyiTe’s ‘Manic’ Review: A Spiral of Drink, Smoke, and Panic

By Marcus AdetolaMarch 4, 2026

North London rapper AyiTe turns self-destruction into melody on ‘Manic’, an introspective meditation on drink, smoke, and the silent panic of feeling trapped.

The second single ahead of his collaborative album Pieces with Australian producer Benny Zenn, it is a song about drowning sorrows in liquor when life has backed you into a corner with nowhere left to turn.

The lyrics are vivid and steeped in drink metaphors, charting a very specific kind of internal struggle. AyiTe doesn’t moralise or offer a way out. The hook is catchy and carries the mood of the whole track.

He offers no escape from the mood, only the chance to sit inside it.

His rap cadence is rapid but controlled, allowing the introspective lyrics to land with quiet precision.

Benny Zenn’s production, particularly with the sax line threading through the mix, gives the track a depth that cuts through the noise of the everyday.

The pairing of a North London voice with an Australian producer tuned into UK rap’s sensibility proves surprisingly natural.
