Istanbul-based duo The Away Days has released their music video for ’Designed’ via Epic Istanbul/Sony Music Turkey.
The dream-pop duo consists of Oguz Can Özen and Sezer Koç, and the name of the band hints at the escape from everyday life through sound. The pair self-released their debut EP ‘How Did It All Start’ back in 2012 and they have been growing in popularity ever since. Performing at festivals such as SXSW and The Great Escape have created a global fan base and invited them to support the likes of Banks, Belle & Sebastian, Massive Attack and Portishead. The Away Days has since released over 20 songs with their hit single ‘World Horizon’ reaching almost 1 million streams on Spotify.
The gorgeous visuals for their latest release were directed and shot by frontman Can Özen in a small village just outside Istanbul.
The Away Days comment on ‘Designed’, “The songs’ theme of control is represented visually through the idea of a sci-fi life-hacker, who is trying to capture and control an innocent girl. But then there’s the question of him being controlled on another level, by someone else and then to question how many layers there are? Sometimes, it feels like you lose control of your choices. Its like it’s all designed by someone else.”
