The Coo Honey I Do: An Anthem of Unexpected Love and Hope

The Coo Honey I Do: An Anthem of Unexpected Love and Hope

Stepping into Honey I Do, the fourth release off The Coo’s debut album, we’re invited into a richly woven narrative of love found against the odds, released on a bright August 12th, 2024.

This track is an anthem of hope triumphing over doubt, set against an Americana and indie folk backdrop.

The song begins unassumingly with Jara Holdert’s acoustic guitar strums, her voice clear and inviting.

As Matt Arthur’s electric guitar melds into the arrangement, the track subtly promises something bigger ahead.

The setting is intimate yet expansive, hinting at growth. Indeed, it expands—the introduction of lively percussion transitions the song from a contemplative ballad to an exuberant celebration of love.

Matt and Jara, who serendipitously met at an open mic night in Amsterdam, showcase exceptional harmony.

Their voices intertwine beautifully, infused with a distinct modern indie touch that feels both fresh and classic.

Lyrically, Honey I Do reflects on navigating through fleeting connections to discover a lasting bond.

The lyrics are poetic and relatable, painting vivid images of a life once fragmented now finding focus in a beloved other.

The verse, “Then you entered without warning, I’d never have guessed it could happen this fast,” beautifully captures the surprise and delight of unexpected love.

Recorded live in Sean Gascoigne’s studio, filled with vintage and eclectic musical treasures, the track benefits from an authenticity often lost in studio overdubs.

This choice enhances the song’s genuine, heartfelt essence.

In essence, The Coo’s Honey I Do is a musical celebration, charting a journey from the solitary sounds of a guitar to a full, vibrant crescendo that champions a joyful resolution.

It resonates with hopefuls, dreamers, and lovers alike, offering a personal, direct, and touching musical experience in an era of often fleeting digital content.

The Coo Honey I Do (single edit) Lyrics

Well I have lived my life like I was scattered
All over town, lost – never found
My wishes wild and so untethered
Far from the ground, free and unbound

I have met my muses and confusions
Back in my bed, driving me mad
I’ve loved them all like disillusions
Honey I did, they never did fit

Something searching in my soul –
always half but never whole

Then you entered without warning
I’d never have guessed it could happen this fast
Honey you surprise me every morning
Forget all the rest, forget all the rest

You are really not who I expected
To ever be mine, so tender, so fine
Honey just for now or just forever
Forever is fine, forever is fine

Something’s eased up in my soul –
when I feel half you make me whole
Something’s eased up in my soul –
when I feel half you make me whole

I never thought I’d fall so steeply
Then there was you, then there was you
And when I love I love so damn deeply
And honey I do, honey I do

Something’s eased up in my soul –
when I feel half you make me whole
Something’s eased up in my soul –
when I feel half you make me whole

Honey you do (honey you do) honey you do (honey you do) …
