Silver Spoons Pays Homage To ANNNA’s High School Trials & Tribulations

Dutch/Latvian singer ANNNA has released a new single, accompanied by a music video with the unmissable message of the evils of materialism.

Silver Spoon has a very clear inspiration behind the synth-pop mixing:

“Let me take you back to high school: you walk into a classroom and the first thing you see is a bunch of cool kids sniggering at you. They are all wearing shiny bright new Nike sneakers, while there you are in your brother’s beat-up old trainers, riddled with holes. That’s when you get that sinking feeling, when ‘things’ and ‘fitting in’ matter: that’s “Silver Spoons”. – ANNNA

Assuming the title of this track was taken from the phrase, ‘born with a silver spoon in your mouth’ or in ANNNA’s case, not, she delivers rich vocals and a strong performance. The song has cleverly incorporated the subtle use of what sounds like a school choir as supporting vocals in the chorus, which I think is a really clever homage to ANNNA’s trials and tribulations of high school.

Despite circumstances, ANNNA is expecting to drop her EP Pay Bills/Climb Hills (which I think is one of THE best EP titles I’ve seen), this October hopefully followed by her debut album in 2021.

At only 25, ANNNA has already supported American singer, LP and has also performed at Eurosonic Festival AND gone on to win the Amsterdam Dance Event’s Demolition. This artist has so much talent and has already begun making a name for herself in the music industry. Sounds like there’s a lot more to come in 2021!
