Ren Genevieve’s new single, ‘Museum’, is about meeting someone by chance and without even speaking or knowing anything about them, you just feel in your gut that they are going to be important in your life. It sounds like the storyline from a rom-com, but Genevieve somehow captures the reality of the situation.
“It traces the quiet wonder of recognising someone instantly, capturing the sense that what seems like chance is, in truth, a moment written by fate.”
Delicate vocals float over tender acoustics, accompanied by harmonies that drift in during the bridge, lending the track an almost weightless quality. A sliding guitar adds atmospheric edge without unsettling the softness underneath. Produced alongside Grammy Award-winning Joshua Monroy, whose credits include Elton John and Justin Bieber, the production is clean and crisp.
Born in Boston and raised across New York, Michigan, and Bermuda, Genevieve trained classically at the Manhattan School of Music before studying musical theatre at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. That background shows in how precisely she controls a vocal performance that could easily tip into sentimentality but never does.
