Swedish-Greek folk artist Plàsi is known for his breezy soundscapes, but his latest single, Avignon, throws a curveball – and what a pleasant surprise it is.

If you could fall in love with a song, this would be it. The lyrics alone capture your heart but the dreamy connotations, enchanting vocals and glittering instrumentals complete the package.

This track marks a departure from Plàsi’s usual style, a collaboration with the legendary Björn Yttling (Lykke Li, Peter Björn & John) that’s as unexpected as it is irresistible.

Avignon feels like a spontaneous adventure, a dreamy road trip from Sweden to the South of France soundtracked in song.

You don’t need to plan a vacation, this song will take you right there.

The laid-back folk beat Plàsi’s fans know and love gets a jolt of energy with the addition of electric guitar, creating a sound that’s both familiar and refreshingly new.

Plàsi himself describes it as the most experimental song on his upcoming EP, Salamina, and it’s clear this collaboration with Yttling pushed him into exciting new territory.

The song shimmers with a sense of discovery, mirroring the lyrical journey down sun-drenched French roads.

The accompanying music video, filmed in Super 8, perfectly captures this adventurous spirit with its grainy, vintage aesthetic.

Plàsi Avignon Lyrics

In the summertime when we broke
And returned to something we loved
In the afterglow of our souls
Looking forward no more u-turns

Took a car drove over to Avignon
Where I believed that we could be free
Down the cost and all the way to Castellón
Look at this and just let it be

All the way south, where we danced
Where we gave away our hearts
Cover your eyes, let’s surprise
In a purple paradise

By the ocean side down south west
Can I hold you here as my guest?
Finding back to where we started
In the place where we departed

Everything came back to us in Avignon
Finally you started see me
Down the cost and all the way to Castellón
Look at us and just let it be

All the way south, where we danced
Where we gave away our hearts
Cover your eyes, let’s surprise
In a purple paradise

Took a car drove over to Avignon
Down the cost and all the way to Castellón
Took a car drove over to Avignon
Where I believed that we could be free
