M Huncho’s Where You Been? A Trapwave Odyssey

By Marcus AdetolaSeptember 10, 2023
M Huncho's Where You Been? A Trapwave Odyssey

Enigmatic London rapper M Huncho emerges from the shadows with his latest single, Where You Been?, from the much-anticipated mixtape My Neighbours Don’t Know. This track is both a journey and a sonic experience.

Produced by the maestro Quincy Tellem, Where You Been? is a masterclass in M Huncho’s signature trapwave sound. It’s a harmonious blend of melodic vocals, street-savvy lyrics, and beats that hit you right in the chest. The song’s futuristic vibe, amplified by the distorted auto-tune, feels like a trip to a neon-lit urban future where emotions and tech intertwine.

The lyrics are a raw reflection of M Huncho’s journey, both in the music industry and life. He addresses critics, rivals, and fans, blending braggadocio with conscious themes. Lines like “Trynna’ rectify my sins; I got plenty of em‘” and “Quarter-mill’ to my mom, but she wants more time with her son” showcase his vulnerability and the dichotomy of his life. The chorus, with its hypnotic repetition of “where you been?“, is an earworm that lingers.

M Huncho’s mixtape boasts an all-star lineup, featuring the likes of Nines, D Block Europe, and Nafe Smallz, to name a few. With production giants like Quincy, Mike Vegas, and Fumes on board, it’s no wonder the mixtape is creating ripples across the UK. And for the fans? Huncho is hitting the road, with stops in Bristol, Nottingham, Liverpool, and a grand performance at London’s Outernet on October 17th.

Where You Been? is more than just a song; it’s M Huncho’s heart laid bare, wrapped in a package of trapwave brilliance. It’s a testament to his growth as an artist and his place in the music industry. As the beats fade and the auto-tune lingers, one can’t help but wonder: Where will M Huncho take us next?
