So My Love is an ode to a son but also an introspective song about how life has changed since becoming a mother. Singer-songwriter Leigh Franklin wrote So My Love when her son was four months old, but it took four years to find the time to record and produce the song. Parents can relate to the lyrics and time passing in a flash and your children changing quickly in a short amount of time. However, the feeling of struggling with your whole life changing and losing your independence is relatable to many listeners with various life circumstances.

“One by one, my independence walks out that door,
My sense of self and all I used to adore,
And it’s driving a hundred miles away
,
And then there’s you smiling at me,
And my heart is so free”

So My Love is stripped back enough allowing Franklin’s crystalline vocals to shine and the instrumentals add to the emotional layers. The song features the talents of guitarist Josh Owen, bass from Luke Hodgson and drums and percussion from John Clayton.

Leigh Franklin recently featured on Someone Should Love You with Jason Kerrison and has performed live with him in New Zealand this summer.

So My Love is the promising first release and title track on Franklin’s upcoming EP.
