How Ice Spice’s Munch (Feelin’ U) Lyrics Became a TikTok Sensation and a Drake Co-Sign

How Ice Spice’s Munch (Feelin’ U) Lyrics Became a TikTok Sensation and a Drake Co-Sign

If you’ve been on TikTok lately, you’ve probably heard the catchy chorus of Ice Spice’s Munch (Feelin’ U), a drill rap song that has taken the app by storm.

The song, which was released in August 2022, features the 22-year-old drill rapper out of the Bronx, born Isis Gatson, boasting about her confidence and dismissing a guy who she thinks is a munch.

But what does munch mean, and how did the song become so popular? Here’s everything you need to know about Ice Spice’s viral hit.

What is a munch?

According to Urban Dictionary, the term is for a man who is used to giving oral sex without receiving anything in return. In an interview with Genius, Ice Spice explained that Munch was inspired by the word “eater.”

An eater is somebody who munches. If you know, you know. A munch is an eater — or it can be a hater, too.

Simply a super simp. She thought it was funny and decided to use it in her song, completely flipping the script to make fun of guys who do anything for a girl off the thought that she is feeling him.

Ice Spice – Munch (Feelin’ U) (Official Music Video)

The chorus of Munch (Feelin’ U) goes like this:

You thought I was feelin’ you? (Nah)
That n**** a munch
N**** a eater, he ate it for lunch
Bitch, I’m a baddie, I get what I want, like

The chorus is catchy, confident, and humorous, making it perfect for TikTok users to lip-sync or dance to.

The song has been used in over 587K videos on the app, with some of the most popular ones featuring exthebarber cutting his afro, thekidzdentist cleaning teeth, and Icespice herself reacting to fans’ videos.

How did Drake get involved?

The popularity of Munch (Feelin’ U) got the attention of Drake, who played it on his OVO Sound Radio show in September 2022.

He also flew Ice Spice to Toronto to party with him, and posted a video of them dancing to the song on his Instagram story.

Ice Spice was ecstatic and thanked Drake for his support. She also hinted at a possible remix with him in the works.

Drake’s co-sign boosted the exposure and helped it climb the charts. As of February 2023, Munch (Feelin’ U) had peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the Hot Rap Songs chart. It has also been certified platinum by the RIAA.

What’s next for Ice Spice?

Ice Spice is not resting on her laurels after her breakout success. She has released several singles since Munch (Feelin’ U), including Like…?”, Baddie Vibes, and Munch (Feelin’ U) (Remix) featuring Cardi B.

She has also announced that she is working on her debut album, which is expected to drop later this year.

Ice Spice has been praised for her unique style and personality, which stand out in the rap scene.

She rocks a red afro, thick thighs, and colourful outfits and is not afraid to speak her mind, and she has been compared to Nicki Minaj, Megan Thee Stallion, and Rico Nasty, but she insists that she is her own person.

“I’m not trying to be like nobody else,” she told Complex. “I’m just being me. I’m Ice Spice”.

Ice Spice is one of the hottest new artists in the game right now, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

With her catchy lyrics, confident attitude, and viral TikTok presence, she has proven she is more than just a munch.
