girl on a hill x Sarah Barrios Evoke Haunting Yearning on Amelia

girl on a hill x Sarah Barrios Evoke Haunting Yearning on Amelia

Sarah Barrios introduces her new artist project girl on a hill with Amelia—a wistful, slow-burning indie-folk track shaped by longing and emotional dissonance.

Acoustic guitar loops anchor the song, while eerie, ethereal vocal layers slip through the cracks like passing thoughts you can’t quite shake.

The production, courtesy of Chris Lyon (Rina Sawayama, Lala Lala, Rebecca Black), starts subdued but grows more restless as synths swell and the chorus breaks into bloom.

“Hold my breath, make me believe / Amelia, I can’t sleep at night”—the emotion simmers just under the surface, never exploding, always trembling.

Barrios captures the tension of being caught between presence and absence.

In the second verse, she sings, “He’s what I’m supposed to hope for / But I’d rather be with you instead,” a lyric that lands like a late-night realisation you weren’t ready to admit.

Amelia doesn’t try to make sense of the past. It sits in the ache, repeating “What’d you do to me, Amelia?” like a quiet confession.

It’s the kind of track that trails behind you, like a thought you meant to forget but never quite did.

Verse 1
Running through the garden
If I could run to the end of the world, I’d do that too
‘Cause even after you’ve departed
He’s calling out, but all I hear are sounds of you

Pre-Chorus
He’s got my name in his mouth, but I feel your hands in my hair
And I’m just hoping it rains to wash away all my fears
And, oh, if these walls could talk, this room would be so damn loud
You left your words on my tongue, that has to mean something now

Chorus
Hold my breath, make me believe
Amelia, I can’t sleep at night, you’re haunting all my dreams, oh
Take my soul, it’s yours to keep
Am I making this up? Did I say too much? What’d you do to me, Amelia?
Oh, ooh-oh
What’d you do to me, Amelia?

Verse 2
Oh, like poison in a bottle
You taste sweet, but I think you’ll kill mе in the end, mm
‘Cause hе’s what I’m supposed to hope for
But I can’t help I’d rather be with you instead

Pre-Chorus
He’s got my name in his mouth, but I feel your hands on my skin
And I’m just hoping it rains to wash away all my sins
And, oh, if these walls could talk, this room would be so damn loud
I left my heart on your tongue, that has to mean something now

Chorus
Hold my breath, make me believe
Amelia, I can’t sleep at night, you’re haunting all my dreams, oh
Take my soul, it’s yours to keep
Am I making this up? Did I say too much? What’d you do to me, Amelia?
Oh, ooh-oh
What’d you do to me, Amelia?
