Australian band Animal House moved to the UK so that we could enjoy the casual charm they bring with their music.

Now based in Brighton, they have supported acts like Courtney Barnett and Drenge. Their EP ‘Sorry’ has found fans in the likes of NME and BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac. They also have an upcoming album due for release, ‘Premium Mediocre’.

In their latest single, the irresistibly catchy and hilarious ‘Modern Romance’, Animal House discusses the confusing dating culture. Talking about the single, Will McConchie (vocals and hips) elaborates, “why does everyone on tinder go to Machu Picchu? You can now pay a guide to accompany you up the famous mountain to take photos of you whilst you hike the mountain. Wedding photographers in Los Angeles are now getting more bookings for dating profiles than weddings. It’s all pretty weird, so is this song.”

The riffs are off-kilter and the hooks are catchy. The energy in this song is comparable to that of The Strokes and Twin Peaks.

‘Premium Mediocre’ is out 15th November 2019.
