Alexa Lieb Is Learning to Trust Her Own Voice

By neonmusicJanuary 29, 2026
Alexa Lieb Is Learning to Trust Her Own Voice
Alexa Lieb did not come to music through industry pipelines or polished training programs. She came to it because she needed it.
Growing up in Atlanta, she began writing songs at 14 as a way to survive the emotional highs and lows of adolescence.
“I was a born singer and forced songwriter by the emotional roller coaster of life,” Lieb says. “I quickly learned to use songwriting as a coping mechanism.”
That instinct to process life through music has never left her. Now stepping into a wider spotlight with “Red Lips,” a standout single from her debut project December Baby, Lieb continues to write from a place of honesty rather than performance.
The track captures a playful moment of self-confidence. On a cold night when dressing up feels like too much effort, she chooses a bold red lip instead, letting that small decision shift her energy and self-belief.
“It’s about how it’s too cold to go out and wear something that makes me feel sexy, so I just put on a red lip and that’s enough to make me feel empowered and hot,” she explains.
Musically, Lieb describes her sound as “a mix of soul and garage band production.” She considers it pop music, but “made with more freedom,” driven by storytelling and emotional flow rather than rigid structure.
Her influences span Amy Winehouse, Arctic Monkeys, Adele, and Michael Jackson, though she notes that “my personal experiences and family dynamic is what really shaped my sound.”
December Baby reflects that personal lens. While it carries a seasonal title, Lieb sees it as something much deeper.
“It’s more about me than it is a holiday project,” she says. “I am a December baby, and it highlights all of the things the season means to me. It’s part of my artist DNA.”

The project has already gained traction, earning a #2 placement on Apple Music’s Holiday New Releases list, while “Red Lips” currently appears on the platform’s “New in Pop” playlist.
Lieb has also seen organic fan connection through short-form platforms. “I’ve had people message me saying, ‘I can’t believe I got here early enough where you will still respond back,'” she says. “That really means a lot to me.”
Behind the scenes, Lieb is signed to Ear Drummer Records, the label founded by Grammy-winning producer Mike WiLL Made-It, adding industry momentum to her growing visibility while preserving her creative independence.
Looking ahead, Lieb describes herself as “a rebel with a cause,” guided by the belief that “anything we want to do and be is possible.”
Her goal remains simple but powerful. “I make music for people who want to believe in themselves,” she says. “I want people to feel inspired. Dream big and live the life you choose.”

With December Baby and “Red Lips,” Alexa Lieb is not chasing perfection. She is building connection, one honest story at a time.
