Naz & Ella Take You On An Unexpected Journey With Powerful New EP

By Lucy LernerFebruary 28, 2017
Naz & Ella

Naz & EllaTowards the end of last year, we wrote about North London Acoustic Indie Folk Duo, Naz & Ella, as they released debut single ‘Love Is Love.’ Fast forward a few months and here they are with their 4 track debut EP, ‘In Limbo!’ The songs take you on a musical journey with a wide range of topics from love to Brexit to being homeless. Naz & Ella have the knack of making music you can listen to anywhere, any place, but with a deeper message.

Titular track ‘In Limbo’ features Naz & Ella’s beautiful harmonies, brimming with heartfelt emotion and powerful lyrics, “It’s time to unite, piece the pieces together again.” It is a song about the UK’s departure from the EU so an unexpected topic, but highly relevant and shows the singers versatility as artists. They sing, “In our hands, we hold the fatality of tomorrow.”

‘Love Is Love’ is about love, as the title suggests, but also hope and freedom to love, irrespective of race, gender, and religion. They particularly focused on religion when writing this song. It was featured on BBC Introducing London upon release and selected as ‘Track Of The Week’ on BBC Introducing Beds, Herts, and Bucks, where the duo performed live on air. It was also aired on Tom Robinson’s BBC Introducing Mixtape.

‘Broken Heart Blues’ is raw with an underlying tremor and darkness. It is very instrumental and great soundtrack material. It is an honest portrayal of letting go of someone even though that can sometimes be the hardest thing to do.

‘Blind Eyes’ was recorded live so has more of a natural, unpolished feel with an essence of Country/Western music. It is a sad story relaying someone who is homeless and the “Government just turned a blind eye.” Naz & Ella get the point across that anyone can end up being homeless, “Then he lost it all, life in the fast lane, drinking whisky from the bottle to ease the pain.”

All the songs flow effortlessly and there is something incredibly unique about this talented duo that sets them apart. They do everything themselves from writing, recording in their friend’s home studio, to management and marketing. Their songs are intimate and unforgettable.

Naz & Ella are planning to gig and tour over this Summer.
