“Cornerstone” is a song about the people who hold you steady when the world gets too loud — chosen family, old friendships, and the things that stop you from drifting.
We’ve followed Luna Keller across several releases and she has never put a foot wrong. Pairing with Nashville’s Allison Leah, a singer-songwriter whose crystal clarity complements Luna’s warmth, feels like a natural fit rather than a strategic one, and the song is better for it.
Written across continents, with Leah in Nashville and Keller in Cologne, the distance is entirely absent from the music. Guitar twangs build the foundation, shimmering mandolin cuts through the mid-section, and the vocals duet with a comforting charm that pulls you along steadily. The arrangement is well-judged, propulsive drums give it a gentle pulse and the background vocals sit just behind the leads, warm but unobtrusive. It’s a beautifully crafted folk song that knows exactly what it wants to be.
The song moves between the pressure of a world that grinds you down and the small things that keep you moving forward: strangers’ smiles, a fire and songs on a quiet night, a friend calling just to check in. Small things given their due. The chorus, “love place your hands on my shoulders / let your voice soothe my bones”, is direct and all the more moving for it.
The pair are currently on the joint Cornerstone Tour across Germany and Switzerland, their first time sharing a stage. That debut feels like the right setting for a song this rooted in closeness between people.
Verdict: Folk at its most quietly powerful.
