Bon Iver’s From video review

By Alex HarrisOctober 8, 2025
Bon Iver's From video

Bon Iver’s “From” video plays like a small film about care. Justin Vernon drives a white Cadillac, moonlighting as a divorce attorney, ferrying newlyweds across town with donuts, a couple of beers, and calm advice from the front seat.

The grain suits the song’s ache, and Asher Weisberg keeps the camera close so the chorus can lift on its own.

The track folds familiar hands into the sound: Rob Moose’s strings glow at the edges, and Mk.gee and Jacob Collier lend guitar and vocals.

There’s a real phone line too (1-888-FROM-BON) where fans can leave messages; Vernon and Weisberg are responding to select voicemails, carrying the story out of the frame and into the world.

“From” is the fourth single from SABLE, fABLE, Bon Iver’s fifth studio album and first since 2019’s i,i.

The record also features Danielle Haim, Dijon, and Flock of Dimes, with earlier singles “If Only I Could Wait,” “Walk Home,” and “Everything Is Peaceful Love” (which got a John Wilson–directed video in February).

Bon Iver’s “From” video is gentle, funny, and unpretentious. It shows Bon Iver at their best: feeling first, concept in service of the song.
