Cardi B’s Safe video with Kehlani feels like a small, tense drama. Director Arrad Rahgoshay frames Cardi and model-actor Don Benjamin as a couple building a life while something off-screen starts to pull it apart.
Kitchen-table tenderness gives way to late-night suspicion, then a blow-up, and the final reveal hits hard: a shocking twist involving a shooter that flips the whole story.
Kehlani appears in the video and on the hook as the calm inside the storm, her tone softening the record while Cardi writes the sharp lines that make the story sting.
“I don’t need a rich nigga, just somebody that can make me feel safe,” raps Cardi, while Kehlani adds, “‘Cause when I’m with you, I just know I’m fine / You take all the pressure off my mind.”
The track itself moves like modern R&B with rap edges. It’s clean, moody, and radio-ready, and the video sells the title straight: safety is a feeling, and once it’s gone, everything else shakes.
“Safe” is the latest single from Cardi’s long-awaited sophomore album Am I The Drama?, which dropped on September 19, 2025.
The 23-track project also features Summer Walker, Selena Gomez, Lizzo, Cash Cobain, Lourdiz, Janet Jackson, Tyla, and Megan Thee Stallion.
The album arrived after multiple delays spanning over five years as Cardi’s perfectionist tendencies kept her tweaking the tracklist.
With the album finally out, she has designs on her first-ever tour, and her fourth baby is on the way with her new man, NFL star Stefon Diggs, who might just be the inspiration for “Safe.”
