SOZI’s Skipping Stones: A Melancholy Drift Beneath Twilight Skies

There’s a ghost of something unspoken in SOZI’s song Skipping Stones, creeping in before the lyrics even land.

SOZI leans into fragility with hushed vocals and guitar strums that feel like they’ve been sitting in the sun too long—warm, faded, a little worn.

“I’ve got days that bleed right into nights,” she sings, not as a complaint, but like she’s recounting something that’s just always been true.

There’s something folk about it—soft, slow-burning, and unafraid to sit with silence.

It’s not just the way the pre-chorus lifts (“When the puzzle fits in place / Sun will rise and hit erase”) but how it floats back down into the chorus like a leaf brushing water: “We’ll be skipping stones by the waterside / As the ripples fade into the sky.”

SOZI’s imagery is tactile—drenched skies, rising tides, half-truth friendships. It’s less about resolution, more about surrender.

Featured on Netflix’s Temptation Island, the track swells like a memory mid-sentence.

When she asks, “Are you ready?” it’s not a challenge. It’s a whisper that maybe neither of you are—but the tide’s coming anyway.

Skipping Stones Lyrics by SOZI

Verse
I’ve got days that bleed right into nights
And it goes round and round
Guess thats just life

And if the rain falls
it pours right into my soul
Let it wash over me
Maybe than I will be free

Pre Chorus
When the puzzle fits in place
Sun will rise and hit erase

It’ll feel like a new day
And I’m ready
For this
Cause we’ll

Chorus
Will be skipping stones by the waterside
As the ripples fade into the sky
Oh ah oh oh oh

Time to let it all go

See the colors glowing in the twilight
Purple blue in the skyline
Oh ah oh oh oh

Time to let it all go

Verse
I’ve got friends
That do love to pretend
That they’ll always be there
I hope that they’ll be there

Cause when the tides rise
Who’s first to be by my side
Oh time will tell the truth
Are you ready? Are you ready?
