Scottish/Norwegian alt-pop duo amilost and Nick Wilson have crafted an intimate portrait that exposes raw vulnerability through every haunting tone.

Afterthought – their debut collaboration via Stockholm-based label Icons Creating Evil Art marks a significant evolution in amilost’s sound, weaving indie folk elements through their signature alt-pop foundation.

Written during a snowy December evening in London and refined by producer Mark Elliott in Leicestershire, the track opens with Sigrid’s translucent vocals (one half of amilost) floating over delicate guitar strums, creating an atmosphere of fragile reminiscence.

“If you saw me at a party/Would I be invisible?/If you passed me in the hallway/Would you even look?” she questions, setting the emotional stakes immediately.

“It’s about the thoughts and scenarios you play out in your head, wondering if they feel the same, and hoping they do,” the duo explains.

When Nick Wilson, described by the band as “the king of sad songs,” joins the vocal narrative, “Could I call you on the landline?/The blue one by the kitchen door/I wonder if you miss me?/The way you missed my calls” becomes a nostalgic counterpoint.

A palpable shift occurs in the instrumental texture. The sparse arrangement blooms with emotional depth as delicate guitar fragments evolve into sweeping sonics and atmospheric echoes that grow in complexity, fully encapsulating the deep-seated emotions within.

Wilson’s deeply emotive vocals create exquisite tension against Sigrid’s delivery throughout the track’s emotional journey.

In its most poignant moments, the song captures that particular pain of wondering if you’ve been completely forgotten by someone who once knew you intimately.

The question “Would you still know my body?” remains eternally unanswered, a perfect anthem for anyone haunted by romance’s ghost.

amilost x Nick Wilson Afterthought Lyrics

Verse 1
If you saw me at a party
Would I be invisible?
If you passed me in the hallway
Would you even look?
Would you still know my body
Or am I forgettable?
Maybe so, don’t worry though…
It’s just an afterthought

Chorus
Cos lately
I’ve been unpacking my mind
Falling inside
A case of you
Is still on the passenger side
But I don’t know why
I love you
I never said it
I wish I had said it
Maybe so, don’t worry though…
Cos I never said it

Verse 2
Could I call you on the landline?
The blue one by the kitchen door
I wonder if you miss me?
The way you missed my calls
So I’ll pretend that you can hear me
That I can be forgivable
Oh, maybe so
Don’t worry though…
We’re just an afterthought

Chorus
Cos lately
I’ve been unpacking my mind
Falling inside
A case of you
Is still on the passenger side
And I don’t know why
I love you

I never said it
I wish I had said it
Ohh…
Maybe so, don’t worry though…
Cos I never said it

I never said it
I never said it
I wish I had said it
I wish I had said it
Maybe so don’t worry though
Cos I never said it
