What’s coming on Neon Music’s Playlist? There are too many amazing and creative artists out there creating masterpieces and while it’s easy to add songs to our playlist and leave it at that, it doesn’t do the music artists enough justice. Some relationships fall apart, and you cannot even remember why it did. I Miss You is an electro-pop song from PLS & TY featuring Alex Aiono & Wifisfuneral. It has a fun and catchy chorus on it, and the rap adds substance creating the narrative on the song as a reminiscent love song.
When country music meets hip-hop, you have Batman by Zye Young. The acoustic guitar and the hip-hop instrumentals create a modern wave. Zye Young’s delivery on Batman is smooth, mellow and entertaining.
Zye faced the traumatic experience of losing his brother, his manager, to suicide. He has managed to use music as an outlet to express himself, and he is determined to succeed in the music industry.
Now and then, you hear something that makes you lose your sense of time. South by Arliston is one such song that has that effect on you. You are completely lost in the emotional wave created by this East London trio.
We had the fortune to interview Arliston, where we discussed their cover of Wicked Game by Chris Isaak, and we have since then reviewed a couple of their songs – their debut Enough and I Have No Honour.
The instrumentals on Bad Things by Pool Toys rock and the melody is highly emotive and catchy. The lyrics are introspective, honest, and there is a degree of vulnerability to it. Pool Toys comprises of four close friends from college. They have been playing for eight years, and after moving to LA, they decided to put a project together. This is their debut single and what a debut it is.
Strong by Sara Damon is about suspicions that arise in a relationship leading to indecision.
Sara’s vocals on the short, delicate, and an emotionally charged slice of poignant piano compels you to listen to the whole song. There is a rawness to Sara Damon’s performance that is refreshing and captivating. Sara takes influences from a plethora of artists such as Avril Lavigne, Usher, Kelly Clarkson, Ciara, and T-Pain. She expresses her views of life through her music based on her personal experiences.
Pretend by Summer Dregs is a fun summer song sure to put a smile on your face. The absurdity of the verses is entertaining and refreshing. Yet, it has a serious undertone when you pay attention, that is socially relevant in society.
Summer Dregs is the pseudonym of Carl Cadwell, gospel and fusion organist- turned-producer. You should check the music video out.
The piano evokes a haunting and nostalgic mood on Trippin by Sara Jackson-Holman. The lyrics are crisp and cut right into the heart of the subject matter (falling in love). Singer-songwriter, Sara Jackson-Holman is a veteran in the music business, she has had songs featured on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Riverdale, Orange is the New Black, Pretty Liars, and many more.
High by Monita, is a song you uncontrollably vibe too, not caring about anything around. Monita’s vocals are laid back and slide in and out, between the beat. High gives the feeling of being in a bubble. It has an unreal effect as you listen, putting you on cloud nine.
