Tiger Silko Releases Hauntingly Beautiful New Single Killer

Tiger Silko Releases Hauntingly Beautiful New Single Killer

Tiger Silko, follow their debut Lluna with their new single Killer, a hauntingly beautiful track that showcases their unique blend of melancholy and electro-acoustic production. The song’s introspective lyrics hint at a sense of resignation and acceptance of past mistakes, and vocalist Lisa Jaeggi’s intimate voice adds to the emotive quality of the song.

The spoken word bridge, recorded by Jaeggi’s mother in Japanese, reinforces the song’s theme and gives it a cinematic quality. The sparse production by Jonathon Wright provides a perfect backdrop for Jaeggi’s vocals to shine, creating a dreamy, ethereal atmosphere that envelops the listener.

What’s particularly interesting about Killer is how the duo has incorporated the concept of the Libra, a mercenary with mixed feelings, the god of death, a pair of scales, a raven’s gaze, the samurai blade, a dark veil, and a gentle whisper for redemption. This juxtaposition of dark and light, of the violent and the gentle, adds depth and complexity to the song’s themes.

Lisa Jaeggi discussed the new single exclusively with Neon Music, “As far as the songwriting on “Killer,” it’s like most of the songs on the album in that it kind of spilled out of me. Only in retrospect do I actually grasp how much it feels like part of a dream, where the ideas and faces morph but the main sentiment carries through. Or maybe like multiple universes, where one song can be about a hundred different things depending on who and where you are. When I listen to “Killer”, it’s about the dissolution of a friendship/relationship, about orcas, about the redemption arc of a villain, about capital punishment, justice, human cruelty, extinction and probably a handful other ideas that I’ll figure out later. I hope other people find personal meaning in it, because it’s there to be discovered, less for me to dictate. Jonathon, who did all the arrangements and played/recorded all the instruments, is a maestro in capturing and elevating the emotion in a song and just making everything sound beautiful, cinematic and dreamy.”

Killer is an all-encompassing song that showcases Tiger Silko’s exceptional talent for creating emotive, thought-provoking music that leaves a lasting impression. With their upcoming debut album on the horizon this June, it’s clear that Tiger Silko is a duo to watch with anticipation.
