Who Is Morgan Wallen?
Morgan Cole Wallen is an American country singer born on 13 May 1993 in Sneedville, Tennessee. He first gained national attention in 2014 as a contestant on Season 6 of The Voice, where he competed on Usher’s team before being eliminated during the playoffs. Since then, Wallen has become one of the most commercially successful country artists of the 21st century, known for his blend of traditional country themes with R&B, pop, and rock influences.
Early Career & Breakthrough
After The Voice, Wallen relocated to Nashville and signed with Panacea Records in 2015, releasing his debut EP Stand Alone. He moved to Big Loud Records in 2016 and released his debut studio album If I Know Me in April 2018 The album’s breakthrough came with “Whiskey Glasses”, which reached number one on both the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. If I Know Me spent a record-breaking 114 weeks on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart before reaching number one.

Wallen grew up singing in a Southern Baptist church where his father served as pastor, and he credits Eric Church as a transformative influence on his musical journey. His father introduced him to classic rock artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd, Fleetwood Mac, and the Eagles, whilst Wallen later drew inspiration from Keith Whitley and contemporary country stars. His sound combines traditional country storytelling with contemporary production, often exploring themes of faith, relationships, and small-town life.

Recent Projects & What’s Next
Wallen’s fourth studio album I’m the Problem was released on 16 May 2025, debuting at number one with 493,000 units sold in its first week. The album spawned multiple hit singles including “Lies, Lies, Lies”, “Love Somebody”, and the vulnerable ballad “Smile”, which offers a rare glimpse into his personal reflections. Standout tracks like “Just in Case” and “I Got Better” showcase his introspective songwriting. Wallen is currently touring stadiums across North America on his I’m The Problem Tour, which kicked off in June 2025 Morgan Wallen, and is set to release a limited-edition CD zine on 19 December 2025. His streaming dominance continues with multiple entries in Spotify’s Billions Club.
