The eerie hallways of Split River High are about to get even more haunted.

School Spirits Season 2 has officially begun, and if the first season left you screaming (out of excitement or frustration at that finale cliffhanger), then brace yourself.

Things are about to get darker, weirder, and a whole lot more complicated for Maddie Nears and her ghostly classmates.

School Spirits Season 2 Release Date: When Does It Drop?

For those refreshing their Paramount+ accounts in anticipation, the wait is over.

The first three episodes of School Spirits Season 2 premiered on January 30, 2025.

New episodes will drop every Thursday, keeping the suspense alive week after week.

Here’s the full episode schedule:

  • Episode 1 – Whatever Happened to Maddie Nears? (Jan 30)
  • Episode 2 – Field of Screams (Jan 30)
  • Episode 3 – Can’t Hauntly Wait (Jan 30)

If you were hoping to binge it all at once, you’ll have to exercise a little patience. School Spirits is playing the long game.

When Is School Spirits Season 2 Coming to Netflix?

Paramount+ still holds the exclusive streaming rights, which means no official Netflix release date just yet.

However, based on how School Spirits Season 1 made its way to Netflix eight months after its Paramount+ debut, there’s a good chance Season 2 could land on Netflix around September or October 2025.

That said, some Paramount+ shows have taken years to make the jump, so don’t hold your breath (unless you’re a ghost, in which case, carry on).

What Happened in School Spirits Season 1? A Quick Recap

School Spirits Season 1
School Spirits Season 1

Maddie Nears (Peyton List) thought high school was rough—until she found out she was stuck there forever.

After waking up in the afterlife, trapped inside Split River High, Maddie had no memory of how she died.

As she unraveled the mystery with her living best friend, Simon, and her fellow ghosts, the final episode delivered a gut-punch twist: Maddie wasn’t murdered. Her body was stolen.

Turns out, Janet, another spirit, shoved Maddie’s soul out of her own body and made a run for it—leaving Maddie in limbo and Simon questioning whether she ever existed at all.

The season ended with Maddie piecing it all together, but by then, Simon had already given up believing in her. Talk about bad timing.

School Spirits Season 2 Plot: What’s Next?

Season 2 is all about getting Maddie’s body back. She’s on a mission to track down Janet, but let’s not forget the other major mystery: What is Mr. Martin really up to?

Last season, Maddie discovered that Mr. Martin—the seemingly helpful ghost mentor—was keeping secrets, and big ones.

He trapped some of Maddie’s ghost friends in a fallout shelter, and his connection to Janet suggests he’s been pulling strings from the start.

Season 2 will dive into his motives and, hopefully, reveal why these spirits are stuck in Split River High in the first place.

Meanwhile, Maddie’s friends in the land of the living—Simon, Xavier, Nicole, and Claire—are trying to uncover what happened to Janet and how to bring Maddie back.

But it’s not going to be easy, especially when half of them don’t believe in ghosts.

Why School Spirits Season 2 Is a Must-Watch

If Season 1 was a ghost story with a murder mystery twist, Season 2 is shaping up to be an all-out supernatural thriller.

The stakes are higher, the scares are bigger, and Maddie’s running out of time to reclaim her body.

Whether you’re here for the paranormal elements, the slow-burn tension, or just to see if Simon ever figures things out—this season has something for everyone.

One thing’s for sure: nobody is safe, dead or alive.
