Max García Conover’s new song 5 to 4 is an emotional and heartfelt indie folk track perfect for a gentle and reflective listening experience. Through his delicate finger-picked acoustics, gentle vocals and intimate lyrics, Max conveys a deep sentiment of love and nostalgia.

The song is deeply personal, inspired by love letters from Max’s grandfather who wrote to his grandmother while she was in a hospital for the consumptive poor for two years in the 1940s. The song’s narrative progression mirrors the gradual ebbing of hope and faith during a difficult separation. This is perfectly articulated by the gentle and soft swelling of strings and timely melody.

Between Max’s earnest talking / singing and the raw emotion he shows in his lyrics, it’s clear he wants to express the same emotions his grandfather felt towards his grandmother.

5 to 4 is part of Max’s 5 track EP called everything in winter featuring Paula Prieto. The project is a touching and sentimental tribute to a time passed, full of heartfelt humanity and nostalgia, and Max García Conover does it justice through his poignant writing and gentle production. 5 to 4 is sure to stir up your emotions and evoke memories of your own past loves.

everything in winter is out now.
