London Shuffle Club Launches On The 4th July
Following the huge nightlife trend of shuffleboarding, London Shuffle Club is setting up a new permanent home in Shoreditch, with a huge opening party on 4th July.
The large, colourful space with stylish decor features the UK’s first ever open-air shuffleboard terrace and will focus on the classic floor shuffleboard version of the game.
Long, short and slushy cocktails will be available as well as delicious pizzas to keep you fuelled for the fun. There will also be areas reserved for big groups with guest DJs playing laid-back funk, soul and rare groove, and street food vendors also adding to the vibe.
Do you enjoy challenging your friends? Then shuffleboarding is for you. It is a popular nightlife trend in places like Brooklyn which originated on the decks of cruise ships in the early 20th century. The easy-to-pick-up, difficult-to-master art of the game is to use your hand (for tabletop games) or a cue stick (for classic, floor-based shuffle) to slide your weighted pucks or ‘biscuits’ down a long, smooth wooden board and onto the top sections of a scoring triangle at the opposite end of your lane. But beware overshoot and you’ll end up in the ‘kitchen,’ which immediately knocks 10 points off your score and invites mockery from your friends. The beauty of the game is the fact anyone can play and even better, drinks, eat, listen to music and be social all at the same time.
After three years of being under various previous guises and in numerous locations the Shuffle Club is in a permanent space. It will be open Tuesday to Saturday each week, from midday to 11pm.
