Jessie Munro Releases A Taste Of Her Forthcoming EP With ‘Under Fire’

By Montana TallentireJuly 6, 2018

Jessie Munro’s new release, ‘Under Fire’, from her upcoming EP, ‘On My Own’, provides elements of old-school jazz and pop married to modern day soul. The catchy bassline sits comfortably on top of the warm drum kick providing a prominent feature that rides all the way through the piece. The Berklee College of Music graduate states that she was driven by inspiration from Lianne La Havas in order to infuse her poetic lyrics with the melody line. The singer’s trance-like soulful vocals sit at the forefront of the single guiding the listener through her experiences of social expectation and the feeling of constantly being scrutinized by others. With ‘Under Fire’ being the first glimpse of her six song EP that is scheduled to be released this Summer. Viewers will expect to hear the LA-based musician portray her all too relatable journey through heartbreak, loneliness and the challenge to move on. This is embodied in the way Munro experiments with the relationship between lyrics and melody. Stating how she wants to focus on using the melody in order to evoke the same emotion that lyrics draw out of the listener.

Jessie Munro’s EP ‘On My Own’ is due for release Summer 2018.
