For KING & COUNTRY Revamp Their Album, Burn The Ships, And It’s Magnificent
It’s not often that a Christian country-rock band breaks into the mainstream as fully and successfully as for KING & COUNTRY has. But this band, off the back of their universally acclaimed Christmas album, A Drummer Boy Christmas, are gearing up to release the revamped deluxe edition of their album, Burn The Ships. And it’s magnificent.
Featuring collaborations with the likes of Dolly Parton and Timbaland, the album boasts remixes, guest spots and genre-defying tunes galore. During these troubled times, it seems clear that the fans are the ones who have spurred them along to release more music, even when access to facilities is so much harder than normal.
“This album no longer belongs to us or these other incredible voices who lent their talents to it, it belongs to you,” Joel & Luke Smallbone (for KING & COUNTRY) say. “It’s your stories, your heartfelt conversations, texts, FaceTimes and gifts that have inspired and reinspired us along the way – honestly, you have given this catalog of songs a whole new meaning and life, and not only given us the courage to keep stepping forward, but have also helped us find redemption in our own stories.”
Kicking us off with the incredible Dolly Parton collaboration, ‘God Only Knows’, the album immediately sets itself up to be an uplifting listen, lending its hope and unwavering faith to any who listen. Later on in the tracklisting, we have ‘Amen [Reborn]’, the energetic and emotive song – one of the most faith-driven on the record – which sees the pair partner with rapper Lecrae and The WRLDFMS’ Tony Williams. This track is a rallying cry to trust in the process, with Lecrae’s rap perfectly situated to bring the final, cathartic release which we all crave.
The inclusion of the Theatrical Remixes brings a little extra drama to this stellar album, boasting some of the most polished and luscious production we’ve heard in a long while.
Closing off the album with the Timbaland remix of ‘God Only Knows’, Joel and Luke prove that their music is for everybody, no matter which artists were in your Spotify Wrapped at the end of last year.
