EMMY is Emmy Hartman, a 24-year-old artist from Cleveland, Ohio, now residing in Los Angeles, who has carved a niche for herself in the electro-pop/indie pop scene. Her journey from a viral sensation in 2017, known for her raw emotional authenticity, to a promising music artist is nothing short of remarkable. With over 2 million followers on TikTok, EMMY has always shared her passion for music, covering artists like Lorde and Billie Eilish, which eventually led to her original music debut with STUPID BIG TEETH in December 2021. Garnering over 11 million streams on Spotify and catching the attention of icons such as the aforementioned Billie Eilish, Matty Healy of The 1975, and Haley Williams of Paramore, EMMY’s musical journey has been both inspiring and impactful.

EMMY’s debut EP, Mouthful, featuring five tracks, highlights her vocal prowess, emotional depth, and knack for crafting catchy melodies. The project, produced by Ryan Marron, who also co-wrote some of the songs alongside EMMY and Sierra Deaton, is a showcase of EMMY’s ability to convey deep emotions through her music.

Mouthful Track List

1. The Saddest Part
2. Call Me When You Can
3. Crying in My Boots
4. Somebody’s Something (Demo)
5. Hysteria

The Saddest Part, the opening track of the EP, sets a powerful tone for the entire project. It’s a song that delves into the complexities of toxic love, with EMMY’s vocals acting as a conduit for the raw emotions the song evokes. The track stands out not just for its lyrical depth but also for its dynamic production, which oscillates between melancholy and an up-tempo beat, reflecting the tumultuous nature of the emotions being explored. The opening verse evokes feelings of fading love, where the twin flame, once burning bright, now leaves you feeling cold, as if the warmth has been sucked out of your very soul.

Call Me When You Can, the second track, presents a different vibe with its distinctive guitar strums pulsing with life and EMMY’s evocative voice capturing the emotion of the lyrics, inviting a moment of introspection about the ones that got away with serious undertones of seeking closure and honesty from a past lover. EMMY’s storytelling shines through, with each note drawing the listener deeper into the narrative of a love that has fizzled out, leaving behind a mix of memories and unanswered questions.

The EP concludes with Hysteria, a track that feels like a confessional booth where raw and unfiltered emotions run wild, with EMMY embracing the chaos and beauty of feeling deeply. The song serves as a reminder that it’s okay to be overwhelmed by emotions, turning what might be seen as vulnerabilities into sources of strength. The song pulsates with a rhythm that dares you to stay still, echoing the tumultuous dance of emotions within. On this track, she’s reclaiming the narrative, turning what could be seen as flaws into badges of honour.

Mouthful is a collection of songs that feels like an intimate portrayal of Emmy Hartman’s artistic evolution. Each track invites listeners to reflect on their own journeys through love, pain, and growth.

EMMY’s debut EP not only highlights her potential as an artist but also resonates with listeners on a deeply personal level, promising more heartfelt and engaging music in the future.
