Elcee the Alchemist is officially back with his first single of the year, Netflix. The London-based rapper has been looking to make waves in the UK rap scene over the past few years, most notably with his Boiler Room performance of Find My Way. Delivering an inspiring message and smooth bars, it’s not hard to see why the video garnered over 200,000 views on YouTube. The hybrid producer-rapper isn’t just in the game for views or attention, he has a clear message that he’s looking to deliver to the youth.

Drawing on influences from the likes of Slowthai and Skepta, Netflix is a hyper-focused banger from start to finish. Layered with wonky guitar strings and a crisp 808, Elcee’s bars are smooth throughout. With lines such as “so don’t bother tryna hit my line because I’m locked in the studio” or “no producers can rap this cold,” Elcee is calculated and bold on the mic. Clearly working on his pen game, his bars and vocal presence are as good as ever.

Additionally, Netflix signified Elcee diving into a new creative lane. The single was released as an NFT to the biggest and most exclusive web music platform, Sound.xyz. Selling out in under an hour, Elcee’s development of his social media following has begun to pay dividends. With Netflix, the long-term vision is to merge the worlds of Ableton and web culture, giving Elcee the Alchemist an even larger platform to spread his message.

Netflix is out now.
