Angus Powell’s Latest Release Is Bound To Make You ‘Shiver’

By Jessica RhuleSeptember 21, 2017

Listen to the haunting and transcending sounds of Mid Wales newcomer Angus Powell, who has released his latest track ‘Shiver’.  The single comes from Powell’s upcoming debut album ‘Before The Grey’ which is set for release on September 29th via Halogen Music. Described as beautiful, sometimes dark, the debut album was in fact mastered by Pink Floyd Engineer Andy Jackson.

Angus Powell released an EP called ‘Monsters’ which received support from LA-based music sync agent Danny Benair. Danny sent out Angus’s music which had received only positive reactions from Film and TV. At the same time, Powell came to the attention of Halogen Music, a new London based, Sync/ Hybrid Company, who took him under their wing, making him their first key; signing, finishing and releasing the ‘Monsters’ EP worldwide. The title track from the EP soon became legendary US radio station KCRW’s Top Tune of the Day.

Having Danny representing them for Sync saw Powell’s tracks from the EP used in US TV shows such as; “Elementary” (CBS), “Bones” (Fox), “Kingdom” (Audience Network) & “Finding Carter” (MTV). Also, Indie films starring a few big names; “Go North” (starring Jacob Lofland), “100 Streets” (starring Idris Elba) & “Visions” (starring Isla Fisher).

Over the past 18 months, Angus Powell recorded his debut album, ‘Before The Grey.’ Powell worked closely with Halogen Producer Paul Moessl to create the perfect sound to compliment his captivating songs.  As Powell recounts, “I recorded both in Mid Wales and Great Malvern, travelling back and forth.  I always took the mountain road, leaving before the world woke up and returning after the day had retired. There is nothing more inspiring than those sunrises and no better way to reflect on the day’s work than with those sundowns.”
