An Aching Portrayal Of Modern R&B From Jvck James

By Lucy LernerJune 18, 2018

‘On My Way’ is the latest single from East Londoner Jvck James and he displays a modern dose of R&B with intoxicating vocals and a smooth, trap-tinged beat. The track was born from the very first session with Producer 169 (Dave) and contains syrupy hooks with a slow-burning, aching sense of emotion. It’s mellow, melancholy and memorable.

Jvck James describes the concept of ‘On My Way’, “Life is all about timing. We all have destinations, dreams & ambitions we would like to pursue not aware of the tools and challenges it may take to get there. But if you trust in the natural timing of life you will never arrive late to your destination.”

The fast-rising 19-year-old singer-songwriter has been writing since his early teens and graduated from the East London Academy of Music. Inspired by 90s R&B and his Jamaican Heritage Jvck soaks up many other influences to put into his music. He has also been working with talents including Dre Skull (Rihanna, Drake), Di Genius (Drake – ‘Controlla’), Scribz Riley (Kendrick Lamar, Khalid) and Loxe (NAO). He has also recorded a session for Berlin-based series ‘Colors‘ and performed on the recent single ‘Home’ by JD Reid.

Catch Jvck James at his debut headline London show – Servant Jazz Quarters, London on Thu 26 Jul 2018 at 19:00. You can buy tickets here.
