Above Love by Say Lou Lou Shatters the Illusion of Emotional Invincibility

Above Love by Say Lou Lou Shatters the Illusion of Emotional Invincibility

Above Love by Say Lou Lou, the twin sister duo, peels back our emotional armour, revealing the heart’s deepest vulnerabilities.

The track artfully crafts a mood of introspection through its resonant bassline and measured tempo, wrapping you in a dramatic soundscape that poignantly reflects the profound disconnect between two people sharing a bed but not a life.

Say Lou Lou’s voices soar with a mesmerising quality, anchoring themselves amidst layers of harmony rich with intrigue and introspection.

“Who do I think I am? / To think I didn’t need commitment from a man,” they sing, and suddenly, it’s not just their story—it’s ours.

The lyrics slice through bravado, exposing the raw nerve of human longing.

There’s no hiding here; every word is a floodlight, illuminating the corners of relationships we often keep in shadow.

The Kilbey sisters weave cinematic soundscapes that would make Bond himself raise an eyebrow.

Their vocals float on the lush instrumentation, with each verse peeling back another layer of false confidence: “Just ‘cuz we’re sharing a bed / Doesn’t mean you’ll make me your wife.”

While Above Love explores love, it dissects the arrogance that sometimes comes with it.

Inspired by a poignant scene from Bradley Coopers film, “Maestro,” the track dares to look inward, challenging the notion that we can subsist on emotional scraps.

“I’m not above love,” they admit, and in that confession lie both surrender and strength.

Say Lou Lou’s Above Love is an earworm that forces us to confront our own “culpability in staying with someone we knew from day one wouldn’t be able to meet one’s needs.”

It’s uncomfortable. It’s necessary. It’s liberating.

Say Lou Lou Above Love Lyrics

I need his time
I need his eyes
Because I’m worthy of affection
But in his mind
He’s out of space
Looking in the opposite direction

I woke up and I turned on the light
And I saw the truth of what being with you is really like
Just cuz we’re sharing a bed
Doesn’t mean we’re sharing a life

Who do I think I am?
To think I didn’t need commitment from a man
Who do I think I am?
I am no better than any other woman
I’m not above love

In my room
In this dress
You should be crawling with intention
But you’re turned on
in the mirror
Staring at your own reflection

I woke up and I turned on the light
And I saw the truth of what being with you is really like
Just cuz we’re sharing a bed
Doesn’t mean you’ll make me your wife

Who do I think I am?
To think I didn’t need commitment from a man
Who do I think I am?
I am no better than any other woman
I’m not above love
