Amanda Cy’s Willing To Wait: When Love Songs Get Their Grunge On

Amanda Cy's 'Willing To Wait': When Love Songs Get Their Grunge On

Turns out ghostwriting for pop royalty was just Amanda Cy’s warm-up act.

After a decade of penning hits for everyone from Paloma Faith to Iggy Azalea, the London-born, Stockholm-raised songwriter has finally stepped into her own spotlight with Willing To Wait – and oh boy, was it worth the suspense.

Originally destined for her previous Waterworks EP, this track crashed the party with different plans.

It’s the sonic equivalent of wearing Doc Martens to a black-tie event: unexpectedly perfect.

The song struts through the intersection of love and grunge, where progressive beats collide with guitar riffs that’ll have your neck nodding before you even realise it.

Cy’s delivery crushes it – there’s raw honesty in every syllable as she navigates the messy territory of self-improvement versus acceptance.

“Got a lot on my plate, already” she confesses, somehow making relationship anxiety sound like the coolest thing since distortion pedals.

With Swedish collaborators Teddy Failure in tow, she’s crafted something that feels both carefully architected and deliciously untamed.

This first taste of her LOVEGRUNGE EP suggests Cy’s done playing it safe in the shadows. And frankly? The spotlight suits her just fine.

Amanda Cy Willing To Wait Lyrics

You’ve been, hurting
I went, and made it bout me
It hit me, bullseye
Last night, killed me softly

If I can’t let go of the past and the doubts
Or can’t control a single word out my mouth
If I’m not okay
And I’m always late

If that’s the case, baby
Are you willing to wait?
If I don’t ever change, tell me
Are you willing to stay?
Got a lot on my plate, already
Are you willing to wait
If I don’t ever change, tell me
Are you willing to stay

Fight all, weekend
Dead-end conversations
Out of love or
Running, out of patience?

If I can’t let go of the past and the doubts
Or can’t control a single word out my mouth
If I’m not okay
And I’m always late

If that’s the case, baby
Are you willing to wait?
If I don’t ever change, tell me
Are you willing to stay?
Got a lot on my plate, already
Are you willing to wait
If I don’t ever change, tell me
Are you willing to stay

Ooh
Promise I will put you first
But you
Gotta to love me at my worst

If that’s the case baby
Are you willing to wait
If I don’t ever change, tell me
Are you willing to stay?
