My Life Story – A True Critical Commentary On A Reflection Of British Pop

By Lewis McNairAugust 6, 2019
My Life Story

My Life StoryBonafide 90’s pop pioneer, My Life Story is readying their first album in 19 years – ‘World Citizen’, dropping 6th September 2019.

At their sold-out London gig recently, charismatic frontman Jake Shillingford and co shined.

What an endearing, feel-good gig this was with some great records and witty banter with the crowd courtesy of the frontman in between songs.

My Life Story has had a varied, and illustrious past. Having done it all from playing the main stage at Glastonbury to collaborating with acts such as Marc Almond, Morrissey, The Pogues, and The Wonderstuff.

2016 saw the band released a brand new single, ’24 Hour Deflowerer’, which in turn gained the band a whole new host of fans and devotees, and a two-year run of 90s nostalgia festival dates throughout the UK.

But don’t think these boys are just recycling a rehearsed skit – 25 years plus in the business and Jake still seems fresh and in charge or an artistic vision.

The new album ‘World Citizen’ will be released via Exilophone Records on 6th September, preceded by a single ‘Taking On The World’, out on the 23rd August. You can pre-Order the new album.

This kind of band is exactly the kind of act that can keep the live music scene in this country alive. A great vibe, a few beers, My life Story’s stage show is a true critical commentary on a reflection of British Pop.

Here at Neon Music, we can’t wait for the album to drop!
