Micah’s “For” song review

By Marcus AdetolaOctober 12, 2025
Micah's "For" song review

Micah’s “For” opens with her voice soft and gentle. The tone feels intimate, never flimsy, with each phrase sitting on delicate piano. It’s an ethereal, melodic pull.

Guitar slips in later, first as a whisper. Then it gently takes the piano’s seat. The shift adds air and a second dimension. The mood suggests longing at first. Listen closer and it reads as introspection.

The writing is spare and direct. “Getting it together for” repeats as an anchor. It sets the frame for growth. Each line stacks simple aims and values of choices. Peace of mind. Honest love. Rooms that feel safe. The hook becomes a daily pledge, not a slogan.

A mid-song turn deepens the core. “It’s taken a while; my thinking is changing.” That line resets the stakes.

The verses look back without wallowing. “Barely got by” admits drift, then corrects course. The rhyme shapes a clean arc from doubt to agency. “Answer the why’s” is the mission statement. The question is practical, not abstract.

Her voice, for all its gentleness, carries remarkable control, a strong sense of pitch, and conveys deep emotion through subtle nuances.

The track’s only drawback is its brevity; at 2:46, it concludes almost abruptly, leaving the listener suspended in the intimate space it created.

While a longer runtime might dilute its potency, the desire for more is a testament to its power.

The 20-year-old South African artist is currently studying Music Business in London. She began songwriting during her teenage years and ventured into music production in 2022. Her debut single “Mirror” explored themes of isolation and healing.

Our Verdict: “For” is a beautiful slow-burning track about choosing yourself repeatedly, gathering strength to persist and improve yourself moment by moment, even when everything screams otherwise.
