‘Sunflowers’ is a stunning song by Matthew Haim written as an ode to his late father’s favorite flower. In the track and the accompanying visuals, the sunflower takes on a life of its own being portrayed as a connection between father and son and the time that was cut too short. The video shows scenes of Matthew now and as a boy which makes it all the more heartbreaking.

Matthew discusses the visuals and says, “some songs have a way of constructing visuals in my mind as they’re being written.” He continues,”it was very early on that I could see this aerial shot of a sand-colored old bug driving through the desert. I approached my good friend and incredibly talented film director Leo Zuckerman with that mental image, and we together carved out a story that I really feel brings this song to life.

The Los Angeles based artist is known for his blending of genres and emotive pieces. In 2016, he broke out with his debut single ‘Vanilla Wats’ an electronic R&B track followed up with the soul-bearing EP ‘Homemade’. His raw and complex work makes him one to watch.
