London-based African artist/producer Silvastone makes music which is a creative hybrid of African beats, UK street sounds and global melodies. In late 2014 he released the excellent self-produced and self-written ‘Transitions’ EP to great acclaim garnering immediate support from influential and notable tastemakers across the board. His music is consistently on regular rotation on numerous radio and TV networks worldwide and especially Africa where he has undertaken many radio interviews over the last 12 months.
Silvastone composed music featured in Hollywood blockbuster “The Good Lie” as well as in various TV shows. He has also starred in series 2 and 3 of popular reality music series called CokeStudioAFRICA alongside some of the continent’s biggest music stars that broadcast prime-time across Africa every weekend and online to the world. Silvastone also hosts a monthly African Music show on Emirates Air in-flight entertainment.
Born in South London to Sierra Leone/Ghana parentage the West African native has previously produced and/or collaborated with an diverse array of the hottest new talent from across Africa and worldwide including Sarkodie, D’banj, Rita Ora, Davido, Mark Morrison, Chidinma, Estelle, Dan Croll, Emmanuel Jal, Mista Silva, Blak Twang, Atumpan, Sneakbo, Afrojack, Damian Marley, Wayne Marshall, Navio, etc. His breakthrough and heavily playlisted single “Loving My Baby (Remix)” featured Nigerian Afro-pop sensation Yemi Alade and its follow-up “Skatta (Remix)” featured legendary Jamaican global dancehall superstars, Chaka Demus and Pliers.
Silvastone featured on the line-up of the biggest Afrobeats concert in London starring Akon/Mafikizolo/Yemi Alade at the world famous Wembley SSE Arena August 2015. Earlier in the year, he’d toured around the UK on the Soul Acoustic Tour and then supported African superstars P-Square/Flavour/Shatta Wale/Awilo Longomba in March 2015 (again at Wembley SSE Arena). In late 2014 SILVASTONE headlined his own gig to full house at London’s prestigious jazz club – Ronnie Scotts, and followed this up with a fabulous ‘Silvastone and friends’ showcase at The Forge, Camden Easter 2015. He has featured on the line-up of nearly every major Afrobeats event in the UK since 2015 and was booked on several UK festivals last summer including Glastonbury Festival where he performed twice. Throughout the year he also performed at numerous events and festivals across the world including concerts in Sweden, Kenya, Nigeria and most recently at the Shoko Festival in Zimbabwe. Silvastone was an opening act on Davido’s 2015 UK tour and was an official support act for Fuse ODG on his UK national arena tour.
Warming-up to his sophomore EP Silvastone has spent the first half of the year promoting a series of street singles with videos including the heavily A-list play-listed single “My Place” which features one of the UK’s hottest urban artists, Sneakbo. He has also collaborated with two other very popular artists – Miami’s infamous Ace Hood and Manchester grime rapper Bugzy Malone for a Charlie Sloth album out now on Virgin/EMI Records. More recently he dropped the banging “Real Man” featuring Gory which again receiving early support from Radio 1 and the aforementioned networks and accumulated over 100k views in 10 days.
His forthcoming and much-anticipated second EP “Levels” promises to be yet another game-changer for the UK African music scene. He has spent much of 2016 recording an exciting collection of works around his multi-genre signature blend of infectious African beats, UK Street Sounds and Global melodies. Carrying on his exquisite and seamless blends of popular genres over an Afrobeats backbone ‘Levels’ will further cement Silvastone’s reputation as truly one of the UK’s most gifted and versatile African music talent.
